Pregnancy Trauma Support for Women & birthing people

If your experience of sexual trauma is affecting how you feel about pregnancy or birth.

You do not need to have all the answers. You do not need to use the word "trauma" if it does not feel right. You just need to feel that something about this experience is harder than it should be, and it might connect to something that happened before.

What I keep seeing

Women and birthing people come to me who have done everything right. They have read the books. They have written the birth plan. They feel ready.

And then something shifts. The body responds to something the preparation cannot reach. Something that has nothing to do with this pregnancy, this baby, this labour. But the body does not know that.

If that sounds familiar, this support is for you.

You may carry a history of sexual trauma. You may carry experiences you have never spoken about. You may not be sure whether what happened to you "counts." It counts. And it may be shaping how you feel about pregnancy, birth, and your body in ways that are hard to explain.

This support may be right for you if

You carry a history of sexual trauma and it is affecting how you feel about pregnancy, birth, or your body

Certain parts of maternity care feel frightening in ways you cannot fully explain

You feel anxious about examinations, intimate touch, exposure, or loss of control during birth

You had a previous birth that felt traumatic and you think it may connect to earlier experiences

You have never spoken about what happened but you feel it is present in how your body responds

You want someone alongside you who understands the connection between sexual trauma and the birth experience

Is this the right support for you?

Before you get in touch

I work specifically with women whose experience of pregnancy or birth is affected by sexual trauma. This is a specialism, not a general service. Here is how to tell if this is the right fit.

This support is not designed for

General birth anxiety or fear of birth that is not connected to sexual trauma

Processing a traumatic birth caused by clinical complications or poor care alone

Therapy, counselling, or mental health treatment

Couples counselling or relationship support

Support during labour and birth (doula care)

If you are not sure whether this is the right fit, that is okay. Get in touch and we can talk it through. If this is not the right support for you, I will help you find someone who is.

Compassionate, non-clinical support

What WE offer

Trauma-informed support during pregnancy, birth preparation, and postpartum.

Everything moves at your pace.

One-to-one birth preparation

Preparing for birth with an understanding of how your history may shape the experience. Not generic classes. Preparation that starts from where you actually are.

Survivor-informed birth planning

Creating a birth plan that accounts for your triggers, your boundaries, and what you need from the people around you. A plan that protects you, not just a wish list.

Understanding what feels difficult

Identifying what about pregnancy or birth feels frightening, and finding what helps. Naming it is the first step toward feeling safer.

Tools to feel calmer and more present

Practical techniques to help you stay grounded when anxiety, fear, or body memories surface. Things you can actually use, not theory.

Postpartum birth debrief

Processing a difficult birth experience. Making sense of what happened, how it felt, and what it means to you now. No judgement. No rush.

Advocacy with your maternity team

Help communicating your needs to your midwife, consultant, or birth team. Making sure your care plan reflects what you actually need, not what is assumed.

Funded support sessions through SAFER Birth Project CIC.

Places are limited. If there is currently a wait, I will let you know honestly and help you find interim support if you need it.

We offer a limited number of funded, non-clinical support sessions for women & birthing people whose experience of pregnancy, birth, or the postpartum period is affected by sexual trauma. You do not need to pay. You do not need a referral. You do not need a diagnosis.

Support is offered in short, focused pathways so that each woman and person receives practical, trauma-informed help while allowing the project to support as many women and birthing people as possible.

1 funded session

Birth Clarity Session

60-75 minutes

A one-off, focused conversation for women who need help with something specific: an upcoming appointment, a fear, a decision, or simply understanding what feels difficult. This session is also the starting point for women who are not sure which support they need.

1 funded session

Postpartum Birth Debrief

60-75 minutes

A gentle, focused space to talk through a difficult birth experience where you suspect or know that sexual trauma played a part in how the birth felt. A safe first space to be heard, make sense of what happened, and identify next steps.

This support is provided free through SAFER Birth Project CIC, made possible by grants and partnerships.

What to expect

1

A conversation

We start by talking. There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to share. You tell me what feels difficult. I listen.

2

At your pace

Sessions are available online via Microsoft teams, zoom or Google meet. You do not need a referral or a diagnosis. Some people see me once. Some throughout pregnancy.

3

On your terms

You do not need to tell me what happened to you. You do not need to use the word "trauma." You just need to feel that something is not straightforward and you want someone who understands why.

An important note

This is not therapy. I am not a counsellor or psychologist. What I offer is experienced, trauma-aware support from someone who has spent 14 years alongside women and birthing people during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, and who understands how sexual trauma can shape that journey.

If you need specialist trauma therapy or mental health support, I can help you find the right person. Sometimes what you need is both: a therapist for the deeper work, and someone like me for the practical, pregnancy-specific support alongside it.

"You do not have to have all the answers before you reach out. You just have to feel that something is not quite right."

If this feels right for you

There is no obligation. No form to fill in. Just a conversation to see if this is the right support for you.

You can email me directly. Tell me as much or as little as you want. I will reply personally within 48 hours.

If this is not the right fit, I will tell you honestly and help you find someone who is.
