2. Professional training
2.1 Booking and confirmation
Â
Training is booked by contacting us directly. A booking is confirmed when we have agreed a date, format, and fee in writing (by email). No booking is confirmed until written confirmation has been provided by SAFER Birth Training Ltd.
Â
2.2 Fees and payment
Â
Fees are agreed in writing before training is delivered. Invoices are issued after confirmation and are payable within 30 days unless otherwise agreed. For NHS and public sector organisations, we are happy to work with your purchase order process.
Â
2.3 Cancellation by you
Â
-
More than 28 days before the training date: full refund or reschedule at no cost.
-
14 to 28 days before: 50% of the agreed fee is payable, or reschedule at no additional cost.
-
Less than 14 days before: the full fee is payable. We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule where possible.
Â
2.4 Cancellation by us
Â
If we need to cancel or reschedule training, we will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative date. If no alternative is suitable, a full refund will be provided. We are not liable for any costs incurred by you as a result of cancellation.
Â
2.5 Delivery
Â
Training is delivered online via Microsoft Teams unless otherwise agreed. In-person delivery may be arranged on a case-by-case basis and may incur additional travel and accommodation costs, which will be agreed in advance.
Â
2.6 Group size
Â
Maximum group size is 20 participants unless otherwise agreed. Larger groups may require additional sessions or adjusted pricing.
Â
2.7 Certificates and CPD
Â
Certificates of attendance are provided to participants who complete the full training. CPD hours may be claimed in line with your professional body's requirements. SAFER Birth Training Ltd does not currently hold formal CPD accreditation, but this is planned for the future.
Â
2.8 Attendance requirements
Â
Certificates of attendance are only issued to participants who attend the full training session. If you are unable to attend the full session, a certificate will not be issued. Partial attendance cannot be carried over to a future session; you would need to attend a complete session to receive your certificate.
Â
2.9 Delegate substitution
Â
If a booked delegate is unable to attend, the booking organisation may substitute another delegate from the same organisation, provided the substitute meets any stated requirements for the training level (for example, the Advanced course requires completion of the Foundational course). Substitution requests must be made at least 7 days before the training date by emailing us. No additional fee applies for substitutions.
Â
2.10 Employer-funded bookings
Â
Where training is funded by the delegate's employer and an invoice has been raised, the cancellation terms still apply regardless of whether the employer has made payment. If the employer does not pay within the agreed terms, liability for the fee may transfer to the delegate unless the booking is cancelled within the cancellation terms above.
Â
2.11 Recording and photography
Â
Training sessions must not be recorded (audio, video, or screen capture) by participants without prior written permission from SAFER Birth Training Ltd. Screenshots of training materials, slides, or shared content are not permitted. This is to protect the intellectual property of the training programme and the confidentiality of discussions that may take place during sessions.
Â
2.12 Content advisory and participant wellbeing
Â
This training involves discussion of sexual trauma, abuse, and their impact on women during maternity care. The content may be distressing for some participants, including those with personal experiences of trauma. By booking, participants acknowledge the sensitive nature of the content. If at any point during the training a participant needs to step away, they are welcome to do so. SAFER Birth Training Ltd is not liable for any emotional distress experienced as a result of attending the training. If you have concerns about attending, please contact us in advance so we can discuss how to support you.
Â
2.13 Right to withdraw a participant
Â
SAFER Birth Training Ltd reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to ask a participant to leave a training session if their behaviour is disruptive, disrespectful to other participants, or incompatible with the safe and professional learning environment required for this training. In such cases, no refund will be provided.
Â
2.14 Consumer cooling-off period
Â
If you are booking as an individual consumer (not through an employer or organisation), you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of booking during which you may cancel for a full refund, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This right does not apply to bookings made by or on behalf of a business or organisation.
3. Support for women
Â
3.1 Nature of the service
Â
The support offered to women through SAFER Birth Project CIC is non-clinical. It is not therapy, counselling, psychotherapy, or mental health treatment. It is trauma-aware, practical and emotional support provided by an experienced birth professional.
Â
3.2 Who the service is for
Â
This service is for women whose experience of pregnancy, birth or the postpartum period is affected by sexual trauma, previous difficult birth experiences, fear, loss of control, or trauma-related distress around maternity care.
Â
If we believe a different type of support would be more appropriate, we will tell you honestly and, where possible, signpost you to another service.
Â
3.3 Funded support sessions
Â
Support sessions for women are funded through SAFER Birth Project CIC, grants, donations, commissioned programmes or other funding arrangements.
Â
Women who are offered support will be allocated a specific number of funded sessions. The number of sessions available will be confirmed before support begins.
Â
Funded sessions have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged, transferred, refunded, sold, or used for any other service.
Â
3.4 Attendance, cancellation and missed sessions
Â
Funded sessions are limited and are reserved specifically for you.
Â
If you cannot attend a booked session, please give at least 24 hours’ notice wherever possible. Sessions cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice may usually be rearranged.
Â
If you do not attend a booked session, or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the session may be counted as used and deducted from your funded session allocation.
Â
We understand that women accessing this service may be dealing with trauma, pregnancy, parenting, health appointments, childcare, emotional overwhelm or crisis. Where there are exceptional circumstances, we will consider these sensitively and may offer one discretionary rearrangement.
Â
Repeated missed sessions or late cancellations may result in the funded place being withdrawn and offered to another woman.
Â
3.5 Late arrival
Â
If you arrive late for a session, the session will usually still finish at the scheduled time. This is to protect other appointments and the running of the service.
Â
If you are more than 15 minutes late and we have not heard from you, this may be treated as a missed session.
Â
3.6 Safeguarding
Â
SAFER Birth Project CIC follows standard safeguarding procedures. If during the course of our work together a safeguarding concern arises, for example risk to a child or vulnerable adult, we may be required to share information with relevant authorities.
Â
Where possible, we will discuss this with you first, unless doing so would increase risk to you or someone else.
Â
4. Free introductory webinar
Â
The free introductory webinar is provided at no cost and with no obligation. By registering your interest, you consent to being contacted by SAFER Birth to arrange the session. Your details will not be shared with any third party. You may unsubscribe from further contact at any time by emailing us.
Â
5. Toolkit and digital resources
Â
5.1 Purchase and access
Â
The Safer Care Starter Toolkit is available to purchase from the website. To purchase, you will be asked to enter your details at checkout. Once payment is complete, you will receive immediate access to download the PDF. As this is a digital product, it is non-refundable once downloaded.
Â
Additional free resources, including a guide for women, are also available on the website. These PDFs open and download directly when clicked, with no purchase or registration required.
Â
5.2 Licence
Â
Purchase of a toolkit document grants a single-user licence. The document may not be reproduced, shared, distributed, or resold without written permission from SAFER Birth Training Ltd. Toolkit documents included free with training are licensed for personal professional use by the training participant only.
Â
6. Intellectual property
Â
All content on this website, all training materials, the S.A.F.E.R. model, toolkit documents, presentations, handouts, and other resources are the intellectual property of SAFER Birth Training Ltd and/or SAFER Birth Project CIC.
Â
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or use any of these materials for commercial purposes without written permission. Training participants may use materials in their own clinical practice but may not deliver the content as training to others.
Â
7. Website use
Â
This website is provided for information purposes. We make reasonable efforts to ensure the content is accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee this. The content on this website does not constitute clinical advice, legal advice, or a substitute for professional training.
Â
8. Privacy and data
Â
We collect and process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. For full details, see our Privacy Policy. In summary:
-
We collect only the information you provide to us (name, email, organisation, role).
-
We use it only to respond to your enquiry, arrange services, or deliver training.
-
We do not share your data with third parties for marketing.
-
You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.
Â
9. Limitation of liability
Â
SAFER Birth Training Ltd and SAFER Birth Project CIC are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from the use of our website, attendance at training, participation in webinars, or use of our support services, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
Â
Our training and support are educational and informational. They do not replace clinical judgement, clinical supervision, or specialist mental health treatment. Professionals are responsible for applying what they learn within the scope of their own practice and professional standards.
Â
Any liability that does arise will be limited to the fee paid for the specific service in question. We shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including but not limited to loss of income, loss of anticipated savings, travel or accommodation costs, or any third-party costs.
Â
10. Force majeure
Â
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to illness, severe weather, pandemic, internet or technology failure, industrial action, or government restrictions. In such circumstances, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule. If rescheduling is not possible, a full refund of fees paid will be offered.
Â
11. Complaints
Â
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us at hello@saferbirthproject.co.uk. We take all feedback seriously and will respond within 14 days.
